New to Church? What should you expect?
We want you to feel very welcome and at ease when you visit Bishopdown Baptist Church. However, for those who are not quite sure of what to expect, here's a little guidance...
How to find us
We are located in the centre of the Bishopdown estate in Salisbury, have a look at our
Location for more details. Feel free to park in the car park at the back of the church. If you would like to speak to someone about anything before you come, please see the contact links on our
Home page.
When should you arrive?
Our Sunday morning service starts at 10:30am, and our evening service at 6:30pm. If you arrive about 5-10 minutes early you will be met at the door, and there will always be someone to help you find your way around.
What do I wear?
Whatever you feel comfortable in; you'll find us in anything from jeans and t-shirt to shirt and tie.
What about children?
The morning service is a good time to bring children. We run a crèche for under 3s and a Sunday School for 3-11s. The children will leave for their activities part way through the service. We really don't mind about noise, but if you are concerned you can always pop out to the back room.
What happens in a service?
As Christians we meet together to worship God, to pray to Him, and to read and learn from his Word. So we will sing hymns and praises to Him, pray together, read from the Bible and we will hear a sermon (you can listen to them through the
Sermons link if you would like). We will take a collection during one of the songs, but this is only for members and regulars, so please don't feel under any obligation. Twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month in the evening and morning respectively, we will celebrate the Lord's Supper towards the end of the service.
And afterwards?
At the end of the morning service we serve tea, coffee or squash and biscuits, so please feel free to stay and enjoy the refreshments. By this point someone (probably more than one!) will have introduced themselves to you and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
The evening service is smaller and will be a little more informal. Coffee and tea are normally offered at the start of the service.
